October 15th 2008

In the "at least it’s not the same old, same old" department, AVING has spotted a handset from Sharp that looks and acts like a MID.  The 9225H is surprisingly small and thin yet has a Sharp Zaurus-like keyboard inside that looks pretty darn functional.  It has a 3.5-inch wide VGA screen and a little [...]

Full picture of new MacBook Pro

October 15th 2008

Engadget has the goods! So does Gizmodo! A classic Duel of Watermarks. I like the edge-to-edge glassy display, but feel that its darkness is rather imposing the need for that ugly black keyboard. Does the MacBook Pro need to be hip? In all other respects, though, it’s a beaut: finally, the latch is dead. Who [...]

Following Sprint’s rollout of its XoHM network is Nokia’s WiMax edition of its Internet Tablet. At $443, it’s not light on the wallet, but it is of course light on the pocket, offering better computing capabilities that most smartphones and a relatively expansive keyboard.

VooDoo Envy 133 reviewed- battery life not so good

October 11th 2008

I have been lusting after a VooDoo Envy notebook since seeing them a few months back and that hasn’t abated, even after seeing this hands-on review at Gizmodo.  Their reaction to the VooDoo is probably what mine would be, even with abysmal battery life it’s just so darn cool. The Envy is not cheap either [...]

October 9th 2008

Asus can’t seem to have enough different models of EEE PCs and are seemingly always looking for variants they can produce.  Word has appeared that they are going to start producing EEE PC models with touchscreens in the next six months.  I have been a long-time supporter (and user) of touchscreens in a Tablet PC [...]

October 9th 2008

From the Chinese-language and password-protected tw.apple.pro come more short said to be of Apple’s forthcoming laptop revision. This, clearly, is for a smaller machine, lacking the Pro-style speaker lattices either side of the keyboard.

MacBrick Pro revealed! Maybe!

October 9th 2008

Cut from a single “brick” of aluminum, purportedly, the new MacBook Pro is a sculpture: it exists in the marble, waiting to be cut free by the chisel. Or the laser. You know.
From this shot, which appears to have a seam between side and top, it rather appears the whole brick thing refers to laser-cutting [...]

Gallery of concept phones from KDDI, including musical instrument phones

October 8th 2008

Japanese phone company KDDI has always had the best handsets on the island — at least by my judgement, not clouded by frippery like usability or price. CrunchGear has a photo gallery of some of their latest concept phones shown off recently at the CEATEC trade show. I’m especially partial to this collaboration with Yahama [...]

Outlining in ink with a Tablet PC

October 7th 2008

I hate outlining.  There, I feel better having said that, but I hate the writing process without outlining even more than I hate doing them.  The recent conversation about pen and paper making for better thinkers ties directly into the process I use for writing articles.  The outline is critical for getting a jump on [...]
