Evernote’s Summer Enhancements

Evernote is an amazing free note taking/keeping service that has both web-side and client-side parts. It gives Microsoft’s OneNote a run for the money (even though EverNote is free so far) in terms of features and has the advantage of being always accessible from the desktop or phone by accessing its web service. They’ve added a bunch of new features this summer.

So, what’s new? They released a new Mac client a few days ago that improves editing, clipping, and dragging. If you installed the Evernote Mac client previously, it will advise you of the update and perform the upgrade for you when you approve that action. The Evernote Windows client got its update a few days before the Mac client was released. It adds rich text editing such as bullets, fonts, colors, and indentation. Evernote released an iPhone client with the release of the iPhone 3G and updates for the first generation iPhone and iPod touch in mid-July.

One of the most important improvements for me was the new ability to edit notes on my Windows Mobile smartphone (the iPhone does not have this feature yet but will get it soon). Prior to the update, I was only able to view notes in my online Evernote account.
